Academic Robes for US Graduates

The academic regalia or graduation robes used in the United States come from the British academic robe's dresses. The continental Europe has been greatly influenced the use of academic robes in the United States. In the United States today there is definite Inter-collegiate code recognized that lay down every detail in wearing academic robes. This definite code has not been recognized by all colleges and Universities in the US.
The United Kingdom Academic robes for masters and bachelors are jutting the same in the United States. In general, the Doctoral academic robes were black, while other universities use diverse colors of robes. Doctoral robes are parallel to the master’s academic robes. The only distinction is the shade but the manner of wearing the robe is just the same. The shade may differ according to the degree level of the holder.
Doctoral Academic robes have full sleeves made of velvet material compare to the bell sleeves wear by the masters. Normally, academic gowns were open from the front to show off a tie. Others use cape as a graduation gown. The types of the gown does not really matter, the importance is still focusing on the academic robes.
In the US, the academic robes and other academic ceremonial dress are seldom worn outside because of the poor weather condition. Majority of their graduation ceremony is held in the hall were the environment are controlled. For lots of American schools, the shade of their graduation robes symbolizes their university or the department they belong.
The wearer of the academic robes is recognized by the color of their robes. Academic achievements are presented by other objects like the sash and cords which they wear during graduation ceremony.
The tassel should also complement the academic robes that specify their college or specific discipline. The recent way of moving the tassel may appear awfully impractical in some places in the US where the weather is windy. This activity of moving the tassel can be done in indoor spaces like gymnasium or hall.
Each student should dress in their graduation robe accurately as possible. They should uphold the practice and the mark of wearing these academic robes. The color liner of hoods in most graduation robes set the ranking of the wearer. In Commonwealth universities, the bachelor’s hoods have a rim with fair rabbit fur, as master’s dress in hoods with tinted silk and classy fur. Doctors' hoods are typically made of crimson cloth and rim with tinted silk. Undergraduates do not wear hoods, but some universities have acknowledged the black literate’s hood. This kind of hood was worn by most clergymen without degrees.
The practice of wearing traditional academic robes should not be gone even in this present time, where modern practices overthrowing conventional graduation ceremony. Even though many of the universities and colleges are creating their graduation ceremony in a modern way, but still the practice is not neglected. Graduation ceremonial objects play a huge part of education and knowledge that people gain during ancient times. Graduation ceremony represents continues adopting of people in their environment.
